Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 2026

At the Centre for Excellence in Nonprofit AI (CENA), we are committed to empowering Canadian nonprofits through safe, ethical, and transparent AI adoption. That commitment to safety extends to how we handle your personal information.

This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your data in compliance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

1. Information We Collect

We only collect information that is necessary to provide you with our educational services, workshops, and resources. This may include:

  • Contact Information: Name, email address, job title, and organization name when you download a resource (like our AI Friction Diagnostic), subscribe to our newsletter, or fill out a contact form.

  • Transaction Information: When you register for a workshop, ticketing is handled securely through Eventbrite. CENA receives your registration details (name, email, ticket type) but we do not collect or store your credit card or financial data.

  • Usage Data: Basic, anonymized website analytics to help us understand which resources are most valuable to our community.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information strictly to deliver value to you and your organization. Specifically, we use it to:

  • Send you the resources, templates, or diagnostic results you requested.

  • Deliver educational newsletters, workshop schedules, and AI insights (only if you have opted in).

  • Manage your registration and provide access links (e.g., Zoom links) for paid workshops or free summits.

  • Respond to your customer service inquiries.

We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third-party data brokers or marketing agencies.

3. Third-Party Services

To deliver our training and manage our community, we use trusted third-party platforms. These platforms have their own strict privacy standards:

  • Odoo: Used for our website hosting, CRM, and email communications.

  • Eventbrite: Used for secure workshop registration and payment processing.

  • Zoom: Used to host our virtual workshops and Accelerator programs.

4. Your Rights and Choices (CASL Compliance)

You have complete control over your inbox.

  • Opt-Out: Every marketing email or newsletter we send contains a clear "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom. You can opt out of promotional emails at any time. (Note: If you are registered for an upcoming paid workshop, you will still receive transactional emails containing your joining links).

  • Access and Deletion: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or request that we delete your data from our systems.

5. Data Security

We implement robust security measures within our CRM (Odoo) to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. Access to your data is restricted to authorized CENA team members who need it to perform their roles.
